LOVERS OF CLASSIC, SULTRY JAZZ DON’T GO PAST THE STUNNING NICHAUD FITZGIBBON – AUSTRALIA’S ANSWER TO ELLA FITZGERALD
NICHAUD FITZGIBBON DUO
Nichaud Fitzgibbon has long been regarded as one of Melbourne’s finest jazz singers, a sure swinger with a superb voice and a confident stage presence. Renowned for her eclectic styles and hailing from the famous Fitzgibbon family, her musical pedigree spans three generations and she is regarded as jazz royalty. Born in Wycheproof, Victoria, Nichaud grew up listening to jazz in the club run by her father, popular singer Smacka Fitzgibbon. Her musical destiny can perhaps be put down to her sitting on Louis Armstrong’s knee at the age of 3! The first time Nichaud can remember music was hearing her Mum playing a Billie Holiday record and “What a Little Moonlight” was the song she fell in love with.
“Nichaud Fitzgibbon sings jazz - she sings it with swinging ease and an innate feel for the heart and soul of a tune”. Kenny Weir - Sunday Herald Sun, December 2001
